About me: I needed a hobby to get away from the computer. Having a family member who enjoys knife making and who was willing to mentor me, I set up a work station in my garage and started my knife making hobby. Forging is now an added element to my knife making and I'm working on creating my own style and learning the art of handcrafting knives and sheaths. I live in Georgia and my mentor lives in Europe. We communicate several times a week via Skype. He can actually watch me work and guide me along even though we live continents apart. Isn't technology amazing?
Workshop: I started with the basics, building a $50 workbench and have slowly added a drill press and bench polisher with the Beall Wood Buff System. On the wish list: a scroll saw, a band sander and leather craft tools. Having the right tools makes all the difference! Click pix to make bigger: You might be able to see my first knife soaking in oil on the bench. Time to polish and then make a sheath.
